OnTime Bookings started with one driving instructor’s frustration and a single, stubborn idea: a full-featured platform doesn’t have to be expensive. Here’s how it began — and the story behind the name.
It was a Friday afternoon. I was having a beer with a friend who runs a driving school, and the conversation turned to how no affordable platform on the market actually fits how driving instructors work — flexible packages, cash payments, first-lesson discounts, logbook management. Most solutions are built for hair salons or spas and then fitted to make them work for driving instructors — and still too expensive!
That Friday afternoon turned into the OnTime Bookings platform.
(Most beers need a Plan B. This one was the Plan A.)
I’ve spent weeks interviewing driving instructors, and implemented each feature aligning with how driving instructors actually work. From the first enquiry to the moment a student earns their licence — the whole journey is beautifully handled in OnTime Bookings, end to end.
My commitment is to ensure you can adopt the platform without being forced to change the way you work today. You’ll see immediate benefit in your business — and I think you’ll enjoy using the platform too. I’ll keep improving On Time Bookings with new features as instructors ask for them. If something’s not available today, let’s talk and I’ll make it work for you.
Founder, OnTime Bookings
When Jørn Utzon designed the Sydney Opera House, his engineers set him a brief that seemed impossible: the roof had to be three things at once — beautiful from every angle, structurally sound, and sensibly buildable. For years those demands pulled against each other. Every sail was a different shape, so nothing could be reused, and a one-off roof was ruinously expensive.
The breakthrough, in 1962, was to stop treating the shells as separate shapes. Utzon and the engineers at Arup found that every shell could be cut from the surface of one and the same sphere — like segments sliced from a single orange. Now one repeating geometry could be cast as identical prefab units on the ground and simply assembled. Beauty, structure and cost stopped competing: one idea answered all three.
That’s exactly what makes OnTime Bookings — one optimised system, and every feature cut from it.
We build the same way. Everything runs off a single, well-designed core rather than a pile of bolted-on parts — and that’s what lets us keep a full-featured, secure, genuinely good-looking platform at a price a small business can afford. Affordability isn’t a corner we cut; it falls out of the design, the same way it did for that roof.
And the model Utzon built to explain it? A circle, sliced into curved segments. That’s our mark, too — one form, divided into segments, always coming back to a single point: OnTime.
